Latest announcement on the school site.
I note with interest the latest announcement. It certainly dwells on St. James, yet fails to mention the School of Economic Science.

Yes St. James is a registered charity, but we have approached an MP to ask the Prime  Minister to consider a suitable means of vetting charities, after all the "unification church" (a.k.a. the "Moonies") ran charities in England for some time.

"We were impressed by the good links with parents noted in the report in paragraph 1.14 of the Junior School report" - from reading the websites which discuss SES, the "links" were forged after the abuse scandal in an attempt to placate parents. SES is still very much in charge.

Quoting reports about the girls school is irrelevant - they won't be coming to the ex-St. David's site, the boys school will.

"The Governors of St David's were and remain entirely confident that the St James Group provide high quality education " - many parents being SES members I'm sure they consider it so. This decision excludes completely the existing pupil base. If they have excellent education, then let them continue to supply it from their own school.

Nor does it address the issue that the school has lost money for a longer period than St. David's - http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/ShowCharity/RegisterOfCharities/FinancialHistory.aspx?RegisteredCharityNumber=270156&SubsidiaryNumber=0

This hardly secures education on the site.

We have received this letter from a former St. David's Pupil

Dear FOSD,

I am a former pupil at St David's (I left in year 11) and also have experience of St James school as until recently I used to date someone from the school.

From my experience of the atmosphere and ethos of the chool and the home life of those who attend there; I question whether his is a healthy environment for school children and I believe that it s certainly not a suitable merger for St David's.

I am shocked and isturbed after having read about the philosophy of St James itself and the School of Economic Science (which I was not fully aware of until the ast few days) that the governors of St David's have chosen this as a etter option than the charity who were offering St David's. I was articularly worried that the St David's' website claims that they believe the ethos of the school to fit closely to that of St James' - a school accused of criminal abuse to children over a 10 year period.

Parents need to be aware of the nature of St James - as the Channel 4 report from 2006   n the abuse of students states - it is 'not an ordinary school', I would hate for anyone to be under any illusions about this. strongly recommend that the governors reconsider their decision oncerning the 'merger'.

In the meantime, as a former pupil and as someone who has insight into St James I feel obliged to bring this to everyone's attention. I feel trongly that parents of students young enough to still attend the school
once it is run by St James are fully aware of the nature of this 'cult' school and are not misled by its attractive front - as a school led by philosophy.
I am deeply concerned by this news and I am glad to see that you have raised such worries on this website and posted links to relevant sites. If I can be of any more help please let me know.

Good luck to St David's.

St. David's has not been saved

Handing over the grounds and buildings to another school whilst ejecting the current pupils is hardly "saving St. David's".

No senior school girl will go to St. Jame's Olympia, not only due to the unreasonable distance to travel (if is was too far for thewir girls to come to Ashford, how can it be possible for our girls to make the same journey in reverse?) but because they have read the school prospectus and the information about the School For Economic Science.

  1. The decision the governors have made is not the 'best' solution since it effectively throws most of our girls out of the school and gives alternatives that are either too far away to be useful or and/or a different faith
  2. The statement about the matching ethos is clearly incorrect if you read the school prospectuses and the aims and ethos of the School of Economic Science to which all the governors belong
  3. Is there a commitment that the prep and juniors will continue on the site no matter how many children are left?

Very Urgent

I think all St. David's parents, pupils, teachers and governors
should read the articles at these links:

http://www.stjamesinquiry.org/SES/SES_page.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_MacLaren

 http://www.andypryke.com/pub/SchoolOfEconomicScienceACult

Please read the articles, perform your own research, come to your own conclusions. Unlike some,
FoSD does not seek to impose control over all aspects of your being.

But in my opinion, St. James School and the so called "School of Economic Science"
which is behind it are clearly
not  suitable "partners" for St. David's school.

School Announcement

Please see the school website - the governors have rejected IES's bid in favour of a takeover by St. James's boys school.

These will be no senior girls  school from next year.

I cannot help but feel that the governors have made the wrong decision - they have let down every girl in the senior school.

The only cosolation is that the site of St. David's will remain as a school, rather than being redeveloped for other purposes.
